Calling All iSchool Undergraduates!

Want to learn valuable leadership skills while supporting emerging data science students?

The UMD Info Challenge Summer Camp (ICSC22) is now accepting applications for undergrad students who have a passion for working with high school students interested in all things data. You’ll work with up to 4 groups of 3-5 rising high school juniors and seniors to support them with their data analysis projects and provide valuable feedback throughout the week.

Information about the camp can be found here.

Basic Student Mentor Responsibilities:

  • Guide high school student teams as they review their chosen dataset to understand the problem statement.
  • Assist the students in finding additional information to enhance their analysis.
  • Support students as they create their plan, and help them stay on track during the week.

Mentor Hourly Rate: $18/hr

Mentor Application Deadline: May 9, 2022

Notification of ICSC22 Student Mentors: May 17, 2022

To become a Mentor, students must:

  • Be available for both camp sessions:

    • Session II (Virtual): July 25 – 29, 2022, 10am-5pm Daily

    • Have CPR and First Aid training** by start of camp
ICSC22 will provide an opportunity for students to take the training courses in June if needed.
Note: Cost of training and time to attend will be covered by ICSC22.
**If the student mentor already has certifications, they will not need to attend a training course.
    • Complete a Background Check
ICSC22 will provide information on how to complete the background check through UHR (University Human Resources)
